Book Characters – A Poem

If you and I

Were book characters.

People would fall in love

With us.

With every page,

They would smile and laugh.

They’d get angry with our fights.

With every flip of a paper,

And with every time

We stopped and resumed talking,

They would anxiously read more

To see what would happen next.

And when they reach the end,

We’d make them cry.

Their tears

Would wet the pages.

Their hearts would break

With the last line,

“It will always be you.”
