My Inner Child – A Poem

I fell down,

My lungs were gasping

For some air,

My body was yearning

For some water

For crying has made me

Breathless and dehydrated.

I rolled into a ball,

Not making a move

When she came.

All innocent

With a pure smile.

She sat beside me

And was holding a stuffed toy

That reminded me of a lot.

She pushed back my hair,

My eyes were barely opened.

She whispered

You can survive this,

I know you can.

And she put a gentle kiss

On my dried cheek.

She stood up and

Started hopping.

That day, when I was

On the verge of breaking

My inner child saved me.
