A Vow to Myself

The video version of this poem can be found here.

I made a vow to myself

To never write about you

But whenever

I hold my pen

You’re the first one

That comes to my mind

The most beautiful muse

Anyone could ever have

I made a vow to myself

To never write about you

But you are the person

Who brought this out in me

So how can I

Not write about you?

How can I neglect

The things you make me feel?

I made a vow to myself

To never write about you

But how can one stop writing

About something that incredible?

How can I not

Glorify the way you look at me?

Or the different ways

You say my name?

I made a vow to myself

To never write about you

But it feels wrong

To write about something else

As if I betray my words

If they don’t talk about you

And I’m well aware that

I will break that vow over and over again
