A Conversation Between Two Strangers

I have always been a quiet person

Keeping my thoughts to myself

Not caring to be involved in a conversation

Or what people thought of me

But that rainy afternoon

While I was sipping my coffee

Doing my thing, minding my business

In a small coffee shop

Someone joined me on the opposite chair

“Let’s have a deep conversation,” she said

Putting my coffee down, in a confused tone I said,

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me,” she went on,

“Let’s talk.”

“About what?” I asked.

She replied, “Anything. Life, cats, tea, whatever it is.”

I thought about it and I realized

That’s what I needed, talking to a complete stranger

“What is your favorite color and why?” I asked

“I love red. It saved my life.”

“Weird, how can a color save a life?”

She showed me her wrist

There was a scar,

“I realized I didn’t want to leave this world when I saw this red liquid coming out of me,” was her response.
